ECO CABLE, the first low-impact solution in the cable industry, becomes E Path, a concept related to a low-impact portfolio that:

  • keeps the same fundamentals, 6 CRITERIAS.
  • INCLUDES SERVICES in addition to cables.
  • is CERTIFIED by a trusted body*.
  • is FULLY COMPLIANT with new European legislation on green claims.
  • is CROSS-MARKET and global.

*Bureau Veritas has verified that activities related to E Path are carried out in compliance with the Prysmian protocol; furthermore, the bureau audited the production process of E Path labelled cables in the Emmen factory.

E Path, a new and enhanced concept related to a low-impact portfolio, is our pledge to provide transparent and clear indications and information, using recognised criteria, on the sustainability of our cables and solutions based on our three key drivers: SUSTAINABILITY, RELIABILITY and QUALITY. 

E Path concept is strongly connected to the group’s sustainability strategy “Sustain, to lead” – a commitment to net-zero goals via sustainable cables and solutions. 

Transparent cable assessment

E Path concept uses measurable and internationally recognised assessment criteria to determine the environmental impact of our cables and solutions. The E Path label is provided to a cable or solution that achieves a sufficiently high total score in relation to the six assessment criteria:

Carbon footprint

Calculated with a ‘cradle-to-gate’ approach and combined with other parameters to achieve a full ‘cradle-to-grave’ carbon footprint.

Substances of high concern

E Path products must be free of substances that are carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction, or hazardous for the environment.

Recyclability/circularity

Indicates that materials used in the cables are potentially recyclable or the products themselves are potentially fully recyclable.

Recycling input rate

Confirms the presence of recycled material in a cable, both purchased from external suppliers and reused by Prysmian itself.
