Delivering today, innovating for tomorrow

Helping to meet the future's great challenges.

Prysmian has unveiled the group’s new business strategy to move from a cable manufacturer to a provider of full solutions. According to the CEO Massimo Battaini, the five-year business strategy Connect to Lead aims to take advantage of the current market position to develop and consolidate its strengths and to be an innovation leader in the cable industry.

The new strategy is based on four pillars, which are crucial to cope with the new market dynamics and take advantage of growth opportunities. These include increasing self-financing capacity, a balanced and innovative product portfolio, increasing the impact of people and segmenting the business. The innovative portfolio reflects the main focus of the company, i.e. innovation. The aim is to focus on more sustainable cabling solutions, and continuous innovation will also help achieve sustainability goals.

Alesea: a smart virtual assistance for cable drums

The solution, developed in a collaboration between Prysmian, Prysmian's Digital Innovation Lab and Corporate Hangar, consists of a smart device installed on cable drums, cloud infrastructure for storage and processing, and an intuitive web platform. The GPS locator, sensors and mobile communications allow the system to offer near real-time access to information regarding cable drum location, drum use and available cable volume and type. Data automatically stored in the cloud can be retrieved at any time and viewed on desktops and customisable mobile platforms. In this way, Alesea provides a full inventory management service, whilst helping reduce the total cost of cable management through better asset use and greater operating efficiency. Optimised logistics and minimised cable waste and scrap help reduce the environmental impact.

PRY-ID is the fingerprint for your cable

Our cable identificator PRY-ID combines a pre-fixed electronic chip with a user-friendly app. From now on, you don’t have to worry whether you’ve found the right cable before cutting it, whether the cable documentation is correct, or how to identify either of the cable ends – with PRY-ID you can always be sure. PRY-ID is the fingerprint for your cable, it does not need a power supply and it lasts for the whole lifetime of the cable, even in the harshest environments. By scanning the cable with a pre-fixed electronic chip (an embedded RFID chip UHF Gen 2), you will access everything you need to know on our user-friendly app. You decide what information to store on the chip and cloud-based software with a powerful set of features – wireless scanning will allow you to reach it in an instant.
