We will continue to support education in the field of electricity

Categories: Corporate  Sustainability

We consider it important to popularise electrical vocational and higher education and support the development of young people. In order to support the quality of education in the field of electricity, we cooperate with nine vocational schools offering relevant education and the Tallinn University of Technology.

Last year, we started a project to support education in the field of electricity. In the course of this, we supplied nine vocational schools with the necessary cables for practical teaching. This year, we will continue the initiative by supporting schools with cables produced in our Keila plant. In addition, we have involved an important partner in the project, namely W.EG. Estonia, which is responsible for arranging delivery. Thanks to W.EG. Estonia’s extensive network of distributors and efficient logistics, the cables produced in the Keila plant reach all nine schools – Ida-Virumaa Vocational Education Centre, Järvamaa Vocational Education Centre, Pärnu German Technology School, Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre, Tallinn School of Construction, Tallinn Kopli Vocational School, Tallinn Polytechnic School, Tartu University of Applied Sciences (VOCO), and Viljandi VTC, quickly and smoothly. In addition, together with W.EG. Estonia, we offer further cooperation opportunities for vocational schools, including study visits, guest lectures and educational materials.

According to Kadri Armas, Prysmian’s Head of Marketing for the Baltic states, it is important for Prysmian to contribute to the society, whose people have ensured the company’s success – education is one of the target areas. She added: “We started the project, but as a manufacturer, we were inefficient in terms of logistics. It was, therefore, with great pleasure that W.EG. Estonia joined the project – by working together, we can capitalise on each other’s strengths and certainly achieve more.”

W.EG. Estonia’s board member Nele Valkenklau is convinced that with this project, we can support society: “We are delighted that Prysmian has started such a project and now also involved us as a partner. We can contribute precisely where we are strong – making sure that the necessary goods reach schools in the right place at the right time. We believe that such initiatives contribute to the development of future professionals.”

Prysmian and W.EG. Estonia are committed to supporting the next generation of the Estonian electricity sector.
