Prysmian acquires industrial land in Keila for a possible new plant
Prysmian Group, the world's leading provider of cable solutions, is increasing its presence in Keila by acquiring 21 hectares of land in the southern Industrial Park from Harju KEK for future development projects, including the potential construction of a new manufacturing plant.
Through the transaction, Prysmian acquired all vacant industrial properties previously owned by Harju KEK in the industrial park located near the planned southern bypass of Keila. The newly acquired land provides opportunities for expanding existing infrastructure and supporting potential future developments.
The investment confirms Keila's growing importance as a key industrial and business centre in western Harju County. According to Salli Hara, CEO of Prysmian Nordics, the company sees strong potential in Keila to contribute to the development of the local business environment and support infrastructure growth in the region.
"Keila has been an important part of Prysmian’s operations in the Nordics for many years, and this investment reflects our long-term confidence in the region’s development potential," said Hara.
The decision on the bypass gives momentum to development
Behind the new developments is, among other things, the February 2026 decision of the Government of the Republic of Estonia to invest in the construction of the Keila southern bypass. On February 13, 2026, the government approved the road maintenance plan for the years 2026–2029, which also includes the Keila southern bypass. In the years 2027–2028, it is planned to build a new 2.2-kilometre-long road section with a 1+1 traffic lane, which will run around the Keila River Park (Jõepargi) and include a bridge over the Keila River as well as a railway viaduct.
Important investment in Keila's business environment
"The decision to build the bypass is an important step for Keila, creating a solid foundation both for strengthening the business environment and for the city’s further growth. New developments and investments will bring additional jobs to the region, increase tax revenue, and improve the availability of local services. This, in turn, will make Keila more attractive to both entrepreneurs and new residents," commented Janek Lehtmets, CEO of Harju KEK.
"Keila's role as a regional centre has grown consistently in recent years. The city's good logistical location, developing infrastructure, and diverse business structure create a strong foundation for further development. Every successful project increases investor confidence and confirms that it is worth investing here. Success breeds success – positive developments reinforce each other and create new opportunities for the entire region. Keila has evolved into an important centre of attraction for western Harju County, the influence of which clearly extends beyond the city's administrative borders," Lehtmets added.
The potential of the properties acquired by Prysmian:
• Total area of the industrial park: 21ha
• Prospective building area: 62,900 m²
• Detailed plan: valid, industrial and commercial premises in accordance with the plan
• The possibility of constructing a railway branch line directly to the properties
