In cooperation with the Estonian company ShoreLink, we contribute to a greener future of shipping
ShoreLink is an innovative Estonian technology company that develops shore power and shore charging solutions for ships and ports with the aim of reducing their ecological footprint. In cooperation with ShoreLink, we are contributing to an international renewal project of cruise ports – namely, 19 cruise ship companies have signed a memorandum of understanding, according to which shore power will be introduced in the ports in the Baltic Sea region. This demonstrates the cruise industry’s commitment to meeting climate goals and developing sustainable tourism.
Environmentally sustainable shore power solution for cruise ships
The innovative solutions of ShoreLink enable cruise ships to use shore power, ensuring an emission-free environment during their stopover. Last year, an important project was carried out at Aarhus Cruise Port in Denmark, within the framework of which a new CMS-Cruiser (Cable Management System for Cruise Ships) was installed. It consists of shore power junction boxes and a cable management system that can be moved by truck.
Prysmian played a key role in the implementation of the project by manufacturing special medium voltage cables for the shore connection with a rubber outer sheath that is highly resistant to abrasion, which are one of the few cables on the market that can withstand permanent immersion in water.
Working for a cleaner future
We continue to contribute to sustainable and efficient energy networks, thereby helping to create a cleaner future. In addition to international projects, we are proud of the fact that the modern shore power solution of ShoreLink is also in use in the Port of Tallinn.
Cooperation with ShoreLink is another step in our mission to provide our customers with high-quality cable solutions based on the latest technology and consistently excellent craftsmanship.
